The aim of this study was to find out the extent to which the
standards of creative teaching in the three aspects of the teaching
performance namely; planning, implementation and evaluation were achieved
by the in-service history teachers in the stages of public education. The
researcher used the descriptive approach to answer the study questions. In
addition, the instruments used in the study included a list of creative teaching
standards, a test in creative teaching culture, an observation checklist for
observing the teaching performance, and an attitudes measurement towards
creative teaching.
The study sample consisted of 45 teachers of history in the general
education stages. The tests were applied to the study sample, the data were
collected and the results were reached. It was found out that there was a
significant decrease in the achievement in the standards of creative teaching
in the teaching performance of in-service history teachers. Thus, a proposal
for developing the teaching performance of the history teachers in the stages
of general education was made in the light of the standards of creative
teaching. However, the study recommended the need for developing teacher
preparation and training programs in the light of the standards of creative
teaching, especially in the light of the trends that call for licensing the teaching
profession and that only creative teachers should be licensed.
