A proposed Unit in the light of the Dimensions of Cultural Identity
for development Social Tolerance and Social Cohesion among
high school students and their attitudes toward the subject of
national education

The research problem has been identified as follows: "There is a weakness in
Social Tolerance values and Social Cohesion values among secondary students,
and negative attitudes toward national education."
To address the research problem, the researcher attempted to answer the following
research questions:
(1) What are Social Tolerance values should be developed by students in the first
grade secondary through national education subject?
(2) What are Social Cohesion values should be developed by students in the first grade
secondary through national education subject?
(3) What is the proposed vision of a unit in the national education in light of the
dimensions of cultural identity to develop Social Tolerance and Social Cohesion values
for first grade students and their attitudes towards the subject of national education?
(4) What is the effectiveness of the proposed unit in development Social Tolerance
values for students in the first grade secondary?
(5) What is the effectiveness of the proposed unit in development Social Cohesion
values for students in the first grade secondary?
(6) What is the effectiveness of the proposed unit in development positive attitudes
towards the subject of national education for students in the first grade secondary?
The research aimed to achieve the following main objective:
- Development the Social Tolerance and Social Cohesion values for first grade
students and their attitudes towards the subject of national education.
Research steps and procedures:
1. Identify the list of Social Tolerance values to be developed by students in the first
grade secondary.
2- Identify the list of the Social Cohesion values to be developed by students in the
first grade secondary.
3 - Preparation of the proposed vision of a unit of education in the national education
in the light of the dimensions of cultural identity.
4- Preparing the teacher's guide to teach the proposed unit in light of the dimensions
of cultural identity.
5. Teaching the proposed unit:
• Prepare the scale of Social Tolerance; prepare the scale of Social Cohesion; prepare
the scale of attitude towards the national education subject.
• Choose the basic research sample from the first grade secondary students.
• Perform the pre-application of the research tools on the sample.
• Implementation of the basic research experience by teaching the proposed unit to the
experimental group.
• Perform remote application of the research tools on the sample.
• The statistical processing of research data and discussion and interpretation in the
light of his questions and mandates.
The results of this research showed the effectiveness of the proposed unit in the
light of the dimensions of the cultural identity (independent variable) in the development
of the values of tolerance and social cohesion among the students of the first grade
secondary and their positive attitudes toward the subject of national education (variable
dependent).
